How to get to the Conference Venue from the Airport:
On arrival at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport, you have the following options to get to the Conference Venue:
By bus: Take the Aerobus in front of your arrival terminal (there are buses available in both T1 and T2 terminals) and get off at Espanya square (Barcelona). The trip takes approximately 30 minutes, and buses run every 15 minutes from 6:00a.m. to 12:30a.m. The cost of one way trip is about €5.10 and round trip costs about €8.75. Tickets can be purchased on the bus. If you take the Aerobus back to the airport, remember to check that you are taking the bus corresponding to your departing terminal.
By train: The train service actually operates from T2 terminal at the Renfe (Cercanías/Rodalies) suburban train station. If you come from T1 there is a shuttle bus service departing in accordance with train arrival times and linking the two terminals every 6 or 7 minutes, the journey lasts approximately 10 minutes. Once you are in the airport train station, take the train from the airport and get off at Estació de Sants (Barcelona). From there, take the metro (L3) to Espanya station. The trip takes approximately 25 minutes (airport to Sants station), and trains run every 30 minutes from 6:00a.m. to 11:30p.m. The cost of one way trip is about €2.80.
By taxi: Taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow. They may be ordered by phone, found at authorised taxi stands or flagged down in the street. Please always check that the meter is running. Taxis must usually be paid in cash although some accept credit cards. The cost of a taxi from the airport to the Conference Venue is about €30.00 from T2 and €35.00 from T1.
How to get to the Conference Venue and move around the city:
Located in Avenue Maria Cristina, close to Plaça Espanya (Espanya square) and in the hills of Montjuic mountain, Fira de Barcelona venue is extremely well connected with the rest of the city (by metro: Red line (L1) and Green line (L3), in both cases the metro station is ‘Espanya’) and with the airport (see transportation section below).
The venue facilities are also located to an easy walking distance from all tourism attractions. The urban planning of the venue area is based on a grid, which makes it really easy to get a sense of direction in the city. Moreover, in Barcelona the weather is pleasant for most of the year and in September temperatures fluctuate around 22 ºC (72 F) which makes it great to explore it out walking. As an example walking from Pl. Espanya to Pl. Catalunya (city centre) takes 30 minutes along the same street (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes street). Buses are available from Plaça Espanya, you can buy on board only single tickets. Public transport tickets can be used both for bus, metro or tram, within a period of 1 hour and 15 minutes. A single ticket is €1.45, a 10 trips ticket is €8.25, one day ticket is €6.20, two days ticket is €11.50, three days ticket is €16.50 and a four days ticket is €21.00, you can buy the tickets at the metro stations or at the tourist offices located in the city centre. Alternatively, an authorised taxi stand is located in Espanya Square with public taxis operating at full service 24 hours a day. Aligned with a more sustainable conference we encourage you to use bus and metro to move around while in Barcelona.”
